30th anniversary of Chang Ching

If you have no idea what is 'Chang Ching' aka Rimbunan Hijau, i can tell you it's considered one of the biggest companies in Malaysia.

With billions ringgit worth of company assets, not to mention the cash flow, it's really a wonder most of us never heard of it. Honestly, i never, not until year 2004.

The name 'chang ching' (pronounced as 'often green' in mandarin), which means 'ever outstanding' was established in Sibu. The nature of her business initially started off with timber which then invade itself into other fields, making a huge success, not only nationally but also overseas.

Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies

It was previously listed in the national newspaper as the Top Ten Biggest Company in Malaysia or Tauke is the Top Ten Richest guy in Malaysia, i forgot which. (so much for my knowledge. :-Þ)

The name Shin Yang is nowhere in sight on the list, so u can imagine how HUGE RH is.

However, the company keeps a very low profile. When i said very low, it is VERY EXTREMELY LOW.

No new fancy big office building. No big Company sign board. In fact, almost all the offices it own look rather weathered and old.

Ok, enough with my babbling of the company's profile. (It's something i made up anyway)

Recently, RH is celebrating it's 30th anniversary.

Taking the opportunity to thank their loyal newspaper subscriber (one of the business), they invited a group of performers all the way from Mainland China and gave out free tickets.

All the readers have to do were to cut out a small dedicated portion of the newspaper for an exchange of the ticket to the show.

I got 3 free tickets (thanks to my ni) and went with my parents. ^_^

This was the first time i saw so many people in miri at a place.

The indoor stadium was loaded with people.

Before the show started, a Chinaman went on stage. He was the MC. Talking, praising RH and the explained the reason for the event of the nite.

Then, the show kicked off in full swing.

You have to bear with all my blurry photos. I was seated too far away from the stage.

That's the opening dance. Something that sounded and looked like indian/buddhism dance. Hey, after all, Sidhartha came from India, okay??

After that, came two guys with unhumanlike-sound-making abilities. They chirped happily, brought thunder and rainstorm onto the stage, passed by a traffice combustion and caused a car accident.

Their performance is quite entertaining actually. Comical.

Then there is a dance again.

Some cultural dance from certain tribe in China.

Sorry about the photo again. It was too dark. Flashlight wouldn't work coz it's too far away, i don't have a tripod and they were moving.

The girls were all dressed up so sexily i wonder if spectators are actually enjoying the show or enjoying them. They danced beautifully. ;-)

I would say the next guy was the most interesting performer of the nite.

The magician.

He's the star of the nite.

You see the small fish tank? The host called it 'The Fishing session'.

He equipped himself with a short rod and magically fished so many gold fish out of nowhere, right among the crowd. Even from inside of a kid's shirt. He even poured out a cupful of gold fish from an empty mug.

I wondered if he would fish me a cod fish if i asked him. Or maybe ikan panggang for midnight snack. :-D

One truly Malaysian night. This is one of our Malaysian traditional dance which this group of china people learned some 15years ago during their first showcase in Malaysia. You think i come here to see a Malay cultural dance ar?. I'm here for something chinese and China made le. Sien

with flashlight.

without flashlight. See the difference?

3 pretty ladies singing and dancing, accompanied by the performance of musicians behind.

They all used chinese traditinal instruments. Pretty interesting. I rather take away the 3 girls and just let the musicians play their instrument alone instead.

The show was pretty lame after this. Some took advantages of the event, fly all the way from China and gave us a mini concert. Hello, who the hell were these singers??

'Yang Guang nan hai'. The Sunny boys. 1 fat, 1 medium, 1 skinny.

Another singer. A girl with a nice voice.

Oh, i forgot to take pictures of the acrobatic lady's performance. It's only 5 minutes. Don't worry, you are not missing anything.

More dances. This is from Germany. GERMANY.

This one is the european dance.EUROPEAN.

And i thought they are all from CHINA? wasting my time

Finally, dad made the call to leave. :-D

So we left. Early.

It's boring after the first hour. Still, i sat there for 2hours. :-O
