Health Info for your own good : Boil

Have you ever had a boil before?

According to my knowledge, boil (abscess) is a type of cyst. Or so, i think. ^_^

We have a many kind of cysts. I had a different cyst on my back for a few years. Few years later, i had it surgically removed.

Doctor said it was caused by the blockage of the gland on my skin.

It didn't caused me any pain nor discomfort.

I had no idea what it was, worried myself to death, reluctant to go to the doctor, thinking that it might be a tumor. A tumor on my back, which kinda grew bigger and bigger by the year. lol

If i really had a tumor and i went to the doctor after 3 years of discovering it, i would be dead by now, wouldn't i??

Stupid me. Pretty ignorant of me too. We should all seek medical advise as soon as possible when we find that something is wrong with our body.

Back to the BOIL issue.

Here's what a boil will look like. It may differ on individuals.

A boil hurts a lot. The infected area will swell a lot and is very tender fragile to touch.

Not all boil heals on its own. Some took a hell of it's time, getting bigger and bigger but you still can't see any pus at all.

The only option is to seek medical help. ^_^

So, the doctor will advice to operate on it. Cut open the boil, let the pus out and see if there is any 'thing' inside it.

Of course anaesthetic has to be injected to the infected area. If you are SUPAMEN, you may not need any at all.

Ouch! So this is how it looks after the injections. Bleeding. (Don't worry. That is not my foot)

The doctor had to poke inject a few different area around the boil to ensure the anaestatic work nicely.

Only after 3 freaking seconds Merely a few seconds later, the doc took a surgical knife and cut open the boil.

Once again, my photos are a bit too blurry. It's a god damn surgical knife he's holding i'm telling you if you cannot see!

Now he's trying to squeeze out the pus. It's not really nice looking.

He had a pair of those blunt-scissor-lookalike equipment on his right hand. Wonder why he need those??

Oh, so he poke inserted the 'scissors' into the opening's of the wound and went digging for gold inside.

Neh, it's to dig out foreign 'object' or more pus if there's still any inside the boil.

It's all done. By the way, nothing was inside. Only a teny weny bit of pus at the beginning and that's all it was.

After making sure the opening was cleaned and nothing was inside the boil, the doctor put some bandage on it.

And no, there's no stitches involved. Not necessary, the doc said.

Finally, the ordeal is over.

There. All nicely wrapped up. :-D

Antibiotic prescribtion is necessary.

P.S.: Weekend sucks if you have nothing to do. Sunday, i slept until 10am. Breakfast. Then watched tv. And napped at 3pm again. Woke up at almost 5pm. Cook dinner. Watch tv again. What a day. :-(
